Vacation Tips - How to Have a Great Family Holiday at the Beach |
If you have decided that don't really know where to take your holidays to this year, why not consider taking a trip to the beach somewhere? This is particularly a good thing to do, if you live in an area that isn't too far away from a beach town. There are very few people who don't enjoy a nice walk on the beach and smelling the ocean air. It's one of the most popular places to hang out during the summer. So why not pack up the family or just take yourself and all the things you'll need for your stay at the beach.
No matter what, you always should do some sort of planning, even if it is kind of a last minute idea. You should at least know where you are going and what you want to do when you get there. Are you going to want to relax and read, if so, pack up a book and a few magazines. Are you going to want to play more than relax then bring some beach toys with you. If you want to spend some time in the water than make sure to brings some skim boards or floats with you. You need to be comfortable and safe when you go to the beach so make sure you have a large beach bag you can carry over your shoulder when you get there. In this you should be able to have the items you may want handy when you get to the beach. You also are going to want a beach blanket or a chair that you can lounge in, some towels to dry off with. You might also want to include a floppy hat, some sun screen, your cell phone, something to eat and or drink and of course some money. By the way, stay away from anything that has caffeine. It will dehydrate you faster. You should put your sunscreen on about 30 minutes before you decide to expose yourself to the rays of the sun and it needs to be put back on each time you sweat and each time you get in and out of the water. You also might simply consider wanting to putting it back on about every 30 minutes or so just to play it safe. Do what the locals do. Be friendly with the locals and find out where the best places are to grab something quick to eat or to sit down and have a leisurely lunch or dinner. They are always going to know where the best spots are away from the tourist traps. You may not realize it, but it's a good idea to bring a first aid kit with you whenever you go to the beach. You should make sure it contains bandages, some sort of antibiotic cream, some white vinegar in case you unfortunately run into some jelly fish and sun burn gel with aloe in case you do get a sun burn. Obey all the warning signs and signals that any life guards might have put up so that you do not endanger yourself because you were ill informed about any existing dangers there might be the day you go to the beach. Safety Note: If you are out in the water and you happen to get caught up in a rip tide, whatever you do, do not fight it. This will just make you tired. You should either swim or float with the current and try to do this at a 45 degree angle and try to move closer to the shore in this manner. Once you have reached the edge of it you can them swim towards the shoreline. |

Travel & Romance Advice - Valentine's Day or Anniversary Trip Ideas! |
Valentine's Day or your Anniversary is usually a special day for you and your spouse and if you have been together for a while it might be getting hard to figure out what to get or what to do for that special day of love. There are things though that you can do that are fun and that can be done if you are on a budget.
One of those things is to give your loved one is to give them a holidays to some place near by that you've never been to before. The trip does not have to be expensive and luxury filled for the two of you to have a great time together. Try to plan for a place that might be out in the country outside of town and that doesn't get a lot of business during the month of February (or your anniversary month). If you happen to live near a city on the coast, this would be the perfect place to go since February isn't generally the most popular place to go in the winter. In order to cut down on the cost for your special day, both of you should of course agree not to exchange any physical gifts since your trip should be the gift that you are giving each other. Consider just making a card with perhaps your own poem written inside. To save on gas your trip probably shouldn't be any farther than 150 to 200 miles away from where you live. This will not only save on gas but it's also going to cut down on the wear and tear on your car. You would be amazed at how wonderful and even relaxing it will be just to go some place that's only a couple of hours away. If you have children, make sure that you plan a head for this, get someone that you trust to come over and stay with them while you are gone or take them over to their grandparents if they are available and aren't doing their own thing on the day. Whichever, this trip is for you and not the entire family. If you have pets, the same thing, you will need to find someone to come and take care of them as well, you don't want to board them because after all, you are trying to stay on a budget here. Try and find a room where you are going that has it's own kitchenette, this way you won't have to spend money on expensive meals while you are gone and you can just buy food from the local grocery store when you get there. This will also give the both of you the opportunity to have a wonderful breakfast in bed while you are there. For a little entertainment, don't feel like you have to go out somewhere and spend a bunch of money on some evening entertainment, most rooms have VCRs or DVD players and you could just go out and rent your favorite kinds of movies and stay in with a bottle of wine and enjoy the privacy of watching the movies in your room. If you want to get out and about while you are on your trip, you can take long walks in a near by park, if you are on the coast stroll down the beach together. This should be pretty romantic because you should probably pretty much have the entire beach to yourself during this time of year. Most important thing is to be creative and have fun. |
