If you are planning to travel to a destination that is going to be filled with a lot of outdoor activities for the sole purpose of having a new experience or facing some new challenges you really need to make sure that you plan properly for this type of vacation. These type of adventure vacations can have a multitude of different things planned like riding horses, white water raft trips, hiking, underwater adventures, fishing, kayaking, mountain climbing, and so on. So if any of that is part of your plans, here are a few tips you might want to follow in order to make your trip safe and enjoyable.

Make sure that when you are planning an outdoor adventure that you don't choose too many activities. If you do, your vacation in the end will make you feel like you need another one when you get home, just to rest up. So make sure to plan your activities wisely. Try not to choose more than two very physical activities for the trip this will help you enjoy yourself better and give you the much needed relaxation that vacations are really for.

Once you have decided on what kind of outdoor adventure you are looking for choose the best place that offers these kinds of activities. If you would like to go overseas for this adventure, make sure the country you choose offers opportunities that are ideal for what you are wanting to do.

After you have decided on your destination you should then figure out what the best dates and times are for the particular activities are. As an example if you are planning for a ski trip in Switzerland for instance you're going to want to plan for this kind of trip in the months of December and January. But, on the other hand you are going to this same country to do some great hiking you are going to want to choose months like June and July.

If your plan is for overseas or even in your own country it's a very good idea that you make a budget up after you have chosen what you are doing, where you are doing it at and when. If you are going to need to rent any kind of equipment, especially in a different country this can be a big expense, especially if you don't plan on taking advantage of some sort of package tour.

Make sure that if the activity is going to be excessive that you get into shape for this particular activity. You can actually go out with outfitter groups and do what they call pre-trip fittness. This is very important if you plan on enjoying yourself while on this outdoor adventure.

When planning this type of trip, it's always a good idea that you consider using a tour company to book these types of vacation packages for you. These outfitters or tour companies will be able to give you all the instructions, supplies, equipment and whatever else that will be needed for this type of outdoor adventure. This will be less stress for you and you will also be able to enjoy a discount when you purchase an all inclusive package.

After all of this is done, if you are leaving the country, you are going to need to get a passport and any shots that might be required for whatever country you might be visiting. You should also make sure to get current updates for travel with regards to the place you are going which should include any kind of warnings for travel, tips for safety and any health concerns there might be.

Travel Tips - How to Survive a Bus Trip

Planning a trip to a major city and you really don't want to spend the money and time driving yourself? Then you might want to consider taking the bus. There are some advantages for travel in a bus that includes the amount of money you will spend and the variety of locations that they go to. But there are a few things you should know in order for you to enjoy your bus trip and get to you final destination in a safe manner.

When you are ready to board the bus, it is very important that you have your ticket in your hand. If you happen to not have it ready for the person checking the ticket, they may make you go to the back of the line or step to the side while you look for your ticket. They are not going to wait for you to find it and hold up the line behind you.

You will more than likely be allowed to take one bag on the bus with you, no different than on a plane because they also have compartments overhead. But, if you happen to have several bags to take with you make sure you keep a close eye on the bags that you have checked in. When you are waiting in line to board the bus keep an eye on when they are packing the bags on the side of the bus. Try and make sure that you see your bags. They often can get mixed up when they are on the luggage racks and get put on a different bus. Also make sure that your tags match your ticket when you get to your destination as well.

It's probably a better idea to go to the bathroom at the different rest stops that the bus makes. Buses generally will try to make rest stops every twenty to fifty miles. So if you can hold it while traveling it will probably better. The reason for this is that the bathrooms on buses are not always the cleanest.

Even though most buses claim that you can't eat or drink while you travel in the bus, these rules are hardly ever enforced by the bus driver. It does depend upon the driver but generally they won't say a thing about it so consider bringing your own snacks and beverages with you, just don't make a mess. This will save you a lot of money when it comes to eating at the rest stops.

The most important thing you should remember is once you are at a rest stop pay close attention to the time and the time the bus driver has indicated that the bus will be leaving. It is vitally important that you return to the bus on time. A lot of drivers simply will not wait for you and will leave you behind. This happens often. Even if you are right outside of the bus when it's time for the bus to leave he actually has no obligation to let you back on the bus. So always make sure that you consider returning to the bus about five minutes before it's departure time.

If your bus trip is going to be a long one it's a good idea to bring yourself some sort of entertainment. Have some sort of music to listen to and if you have a portable DVD player make sure to bring that with you. This will definitely help pass the hours since travel in a bus can seem endless sometimes.

If you don't want to get into any legal problems while riding the bus, whatever you do don't bring any king of drugs or alcohol onto the bus. If you have been drinking and the driver can smell it or suspects you have by your behavior, they have the right to tell you to get off the bus.

Make sure to keep your purse or wallet with you always. Never let them out of your sight, in fact make sure that you can feel it at all times. With all the different people getting on and off the bus at various different stops you are exposing yourself to the easy possibility of theft. So be smart and make sure your money is close to you at all times.

Travelling Tips - Important Hotel Safety Information

If you are planning a vacation whether it's it is one of many all inclusive vacations or all inclusive holidays it is important that you know a little bit about hotel safety. Today, hotels diligently work to try and ensure the safety of their visitors. They are always trying to make improvements to their security but there are still things that you need to know about what does make for a safe hotel.

First things first, never give up your safety to save a few dollars. It's true that a really nice hotel room can put a damper on your budget but it will be far more costly if you reserve a place that might be in a bad place or may not be up to code with their security requirements.

Once you have found the area in which you would like to stay at, you can start narrowing down your choices by taking into consideration some of the following things with regards to the safety of the hotel.

Make that their rooms have dead bolts and of course a peep hole. Ask if the rooms have what is known as electronic guest room locks. These are locks that require a key card instead of an actual key. Also find out if the rooms have phones that have emergency call buttons or that they have the ability to place an emergency call outside of your hotel.

Make sure if you look at photos of the hotel online that the hallways look like they have amble lighting as well as the lobbies and garages. A well lit area will always help keep down on crime. Make sure that the hotel has limited entry options which means less traffic especially from those who are not staying at the hotel. Also see if the hotel offers around the clock concierge services or security services. It's always better to know there is always someone on duty in the hotel.

If the hotel you will be staying at is out of the country, it is a very good idea to see if it's in a safe place by simply contacting the U.S. Embassy that is located in the country you will be traveling to.

Once you decide upon a hotel, it is important that once you get there that you keep your suitcases and other luggage with you always. If there is someone there that offers to take your bags up for you make sure to get their name and if you have a computer with you, wallet and other items of worth, don't let them take those with the other items.. Make sure that after you check in you grab some matchbooks or business cards from the hotel to carry with you at all times, in case you get lost.

When choosing your room it is probably a good idea to select a room that is on the 8th floor or below that. Although the higher floors will give you a better view, you need to know that most fire departments anywhere cannot reach any higher than 8 floors. You also should not take a bottom floor room if it has easy access to the outside, if it's easy for you to access the outside it should be easy for a stranger to access your room.

Rooms that are near the elevators are probably the safest rooms. Even though they are probably the rooms that get the most noise they still tend to be the safest because the rooms that are more intimate and are found in any alcoves also open them up for easier access by criminals.

Once you are in your room it is important that you check your deadbolt and safety chain to make sure they work. Make sure that the phone actually is able to let you make outside calls. You should also check for the closest fire exits and make sure to count the doors along the hallway so you know how far it is to get to safety.
