Holiday Advice - Packing for a Bus Tour of Europe!

So you are finally going to get your chance to travel in Europe and you've decided that after you get off the plane that you are going to be taking a bus tour of Europe. Whether it's for one week or three weeks you are going to plan for the idea that there simply is not going to be much room and that means you had better plan for that when it comes to packing.

Below are tips on what to do when touring on a bus while taking your holidays to Europe.

It's really important that the piece of luggage you pick is going to be something that is going to be easy for you to manage and that it can be carried easily and can be left on the bus with ease as well. An oversized backpack or a smaller suitcase that is on wheels should work very nicely.

You need to research the places that you will be visiting and make sure that you know what the weather is generally like at all of your destinations during the time of year that you will be traveling there. This is really important so that you know what kind of clothing you should be packing.

To begin with start with the basics and pack two T-shirts a long with two of your most comfortable pairs of pants. Make sure that you have a couple of different thickness of materials when choosing your clothes so that you will be able to adjust to the different weather. Also, make sure that the material that you choose is made of material that will dry fast.

After you have the two T-shirts and pants then add a couple of wrinkle proof tops or shirts a long with a skirt and a nice pair of pants as well as a dress if you are a woman. For men make sure there are a couple of nicer shirts and dress pants. You don't always want to wear T-shirts and jeans. Dressing in other types of clothing will help you look less the tourist anyway.

You should also add some sort of raincoat or a lighter coat for inclement weather. It wouldn't hurt to include an umbrella either and a sweater and scarf in case you run into places that have some cold evenings.

You should wear one pair of comfortable shoes or sandals and have one other pair in your suitcase, two at the most, one a walking pair the other a pair of dress shoes if you plan on going somewhere nice during one of your stops.

When you are packing your underwear and other person hygiene items make sure you base this on what kind of travel time you will be experiencing in between the different hotels you'll be staying at. If the journeys will be long distances then pack according to that however; if they are shorter journeys you will be able to buy things you need and will have the opportunity to wash your things during your stays.

Items that you should have handy and not packed away when traveling on the bus would be books, your MP3 or iPods and especially your camera. Make sure that you have this at your dispose so you can capture some of the incredible sights you will see while riding on the bus.

Final notes: Make sure that you pack an adapter for any electric items you have brought and also include a small clock, something to write on and write with, sunglasses and plenty of minutes on your phone if you are bringing your cell phone.

Top Ideas for Vacationing on a Budget

The economy is pretty lean right now and it probably has you wondering whether or not you shouldn't cancel your next vacation that you were hoping to take with your family. Everyone needs time to get away and get refreshed and it wouldn't be fair to yourself or your family if you canceled the vacation they may have been looking forward to. You can still go on that vacation if you just sit down and try to create a budget that will allow you to take that vacation and still enjoy yourself.

Probably one of the best things you can do when you are on a budget and planning a trip is to start early and begin saving money right away and keep saving it until it's time to take that vacation. Of course the more money you are able to save the more you'll be able to spend on the vacation. You should set down a savings total goal and try your best to meet that goal. Anything over that will be a special surprise.

With that total goal in mind you can then make a budget for your vacation based upon the money goal you set down for yourselves. Be sure to include different categories on your budget to represent different kinds of expenses you think you are going to encounter. The most common categories would be “Travel”, “Hotels”, “Food” and “Attractions”. Try and estimate how much you might expect to pay for these different categories.

Look at all of the categories that you come up with and make sure that you can cover it all and if not, are there some ways that you can trim down some of the cost of the items within the categories you are budgeting for.

While you are planning for your holidays to wherever it might be, try and find different coupons that can be used at your destination. Coupons can save you money on a variety of different things like hotels, tourist attractions and even places to eat.

Another way that you can help yourself save some money is to plan on preparing some of your own meals. As much as that doesn't sound like so much fun, it will save you a lot of money when it comes to how much it will cost you to eat out every day while you are on vacation.

Make sure that you decide early with regards to how you plan to travel to your destination. If you plan to travel in a plan you are going to need to book your reservations early if you are hoping to capitalize on getting any kind of fares that might be discounted.

If you are going somewhere that you might have family or friends living at try to arrange with them to stay with them while on vacation. If the whole time you are there is not good for them, at least try to arrange a few days with them so you can cut down on the hotel costs.

Try to visit as many tourist spots and attractions that simply don't cost any money to go see. A lot of museums for example don't charge entry fees and instead have donation boxes that people can donate money in.

How To Find The Best Travel Deals

Even though the idea of a vacation is suppose to be something we all look forward to, the planning stage of it can sometimes give us a big headache and can also be stressful. This is especially true if we are planning our holidays to some place unfamiliar or even out of the country. A lot of times when you are planning you are also wanting to try and save some money in the process. If you happen to know where to look you can actually find some great deals to help lower the overall cost of your vacation.

There are websites that can help with your searches for airfares, for your hotels, your car rental and even cruises. There are even some sites like kayak.com or sidestep.com that will do the Internet search for you by searching more than one website at a time so you don't have to do all the work yourself. Although these sites won't always show the lowest prices, they will give you an idea of what the average price might be on a particular travel site.

Another site you might want to use for some research would be Travelzoo. The staff of this site will hand pick deals that are exceptionally good with a rare exception that they are not. They will list travel deals they feel the average person would be interested in and list them. You can go through the list and see if there are any deals that could be of interest and benefit for you and your budget.

Other extremely helpful sites are Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline and other sites that are similar can help you also get deals you might not be able to find on your own. Remember though on Priceline you are able to bid for a deal but once that bid is given and you don't win it, they downgrade your status to a lower star unless you happen to immediately have another credit card on hand.

If you want to do more of this on your own and find deals, remember that you can look for those last minute type of deals. You can find them on airline tickets, hotel rooms and even last minute deals on your car rentals. But you need to be willing to be taking a chance on booking your vacation right down to the wire. The reason you can find these deals is because there have been last minute cancellations and the hotel or car rental company would rather get less money than no money at all.

When you are doing your own search on hotels, it's always better if you just call them and see if they have something better to offer than what their website might be offering. As for airlines, go to their websites and see if they have any exclusive offers that you can only get by using their website to book your flight.

If it's a cruise you are considering going on it's probably in your best interest to contact a travel agent that has an independent company that handles cruises. A lot of times these independents will give you more perks and discounts because they are in more need of making a sale than larger travel agent companies.
