If you really consider your furry friend to be a true member of your family then you probably find that you are extremely happy to have him by your side wherever you might be whether it's going for a walk, lying with you in bed or going with you when you travel in your car. If this is the case then you probably may even want to take him on vacation with you. Here's some ways to ensure that you and your dog both have a wonderful vacation together.

If you plan on holidays to places that will require that you have a stay at a hotel you need to make sure that you find a hotel that states they are pet friendly. Those places that do consider themselves to be pet friendly come in a variety of different costs as well as different styles to choose from. So do a little online research of different hotels and see which ones best suit you and your dogs needs.

The destination that you choose for you and your dog is very important as well. You don't want to pick a place where you can't take your dog with you and then you end up leaving your poor friend cooped up in the room all day while you are out having fun. Try to make sure you are going somewhere you can be able to share some quality time together. Even if you do have to leave him the room for periods of time because you have no choice it is important that you place the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, leave him lots of food, water and toys to play with. You should also consider leaving the television on for him.

Another thing you might consider is finding a little cottage that might be pet friendly instead of a hotel or motel. This will give you the opportunity to be able to have more privacy and there might even be more space for your dog to be able to enjoy himself more. Pick places that are in the mountains or somewhere at the beach, places that will give your dog lots of opportunities to have fun and get plenty of exercise while on vacation.

Sometimes you don't even have to leave home to take a vacation with your dog, sometimes planning for a vacation away from home can be so stressful that it takes all the fun out of the vacation. So if you are wanting to take some time off for you and your dog you might consider doing things with your dog that are located in the area in which you live. Plan for a variety of different trips during the day that take you away from your home like parks, mountain trips letting your dog romp around in a stream or small calm river. If you live relatively close to the ocean take your furry companion to the beach. Dogs love to romp and dig in the sand.
