Travel Tips - The Best Way to Pack for a Cruise

If you have decided that you want to take your holidays to some exotic destination by going on a cruise, you are going to want to make sure that you are fully prepared so that you can fully enjoy all that at cruise has to offer. One thing that is really important is what you bring with you and how you can pack it properly to get the most out of trip. You definitely don't want to end up being without something you needed after you are on the ship.

First thing to consider is to pack only the things that you truly are going to need for your cruise. It's going to make things a lot easier if you don't bring things you really don't need and it will also give you more room to buy things on your trip to bring back with you.

The first thing you should pack are the underwear that you will be needing. You should pack these in any of the outside pockets you might have on your suitcase. It's best to roll them up instead of folding them because this will take up far less room.

The next thing you should do is if you are bringing shorts roll them up with a T-shirt and put those in the very bottom of your suitcase. You then can continue to more shorts and T-shirts by doing the same thing. This way you will have more room for other clothes that need a little more room. If you are bringing pants or a dress or two you can lay the dress so that it overlaps the suitcase, then fold the pants on a flat surface in half and lay inside of the dress. After you have done that fold the edges of the dress over the pants.

Only take a couple of pairs of shoes, for instance the pair you'll be wearing when you board and one extra pair. You should take the shoes and put them in a plastic bag so that you protect your clothes. Lay the shoes on top of your clothes that you have already packed.

After you have put the shoes in you should then take a zipper bag and place your personal hygiene items in the bag a long with your sun screen, medicine for motion sickness, pain relief and any prescription medicines you might be on. Place this bag of items on your clothes.

Once you have done that you can continue to add items into your suitcase like your camera, extra hangers, some laundry detergent (small box), your own electric power strip, a travel iron and any other items you feel will be absolutely necessary.

The reason for bringing the power strip is because very few of the cabins on a ship will have the outlets you will need for all the different electrical items you might want to bring and they never offer enough hangers for all of your clothes.

Cruise Ship Etiquette - What you don't know you don't know!

Yes, there is a certain amount of etiquette that you should exhibit when you are trying to enjoy yourself while on a Royal Caribbean cruise or for any trip for that matter. Good manners are always nice to exhibit even if you think that just because you are paying for the trip you should have the right to behave as a barbarian. In reality though, it really doesn't give you the right to be rude. So here are a few things that you should consider when you take your holidays in a plane or on the deck of a beautiful Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

If you are one of these huge cruise ships you need to realize that the people that work these ships are having to worry about three to four thousand different people all at one time. So it is always a good idea to not expect them to be perfect. So what if your toilet is clogged, understand you need to give them a chance to get to your needs as well as thousands of others needs. If you have a good attitude about whatever happens on the cruise, you're going to have a good time.

Consider walking more on the ship, especially during the times around dinner and show time. You can be guaranteed that the elevators are going to be jam packed with irritable and hungry or tired people. So if you are able avoid it, it will keep you calm and less likely to treat the hired help with rudeness.

Learn to be more quiet. It is not at all necessary for you when you go in and out of your cabin to slam the door. It will shut just fine if you you close it quietly. Believe it or not some people really do sleep in the night hours when they are on one of these cruises. Whether you know it or not there are probably close to 100 cabins in your area that can hear that door slam.

Practice doing things in moderation. Sure it's your vacation and you want to have fun but make sure you set down limits for yourself. In reality there I no one that enjoys being around someone who is simply sloppy drunk and the last thing you want to do is end up hurting yourself or someone else because you couldn't control your drinking.

Make sure to always be discreet. When you are on one of these ships remember everyone is an equal, so no one really needs to see you flashing your expensive jewelry around or a bunch of money when you are playing in their casino. The main reason for this is that you are simply asking for trouble. And the second reason is guess what? No one truly cares! Another thing, don't think the ship is your home away from home because they aren't so don't go around wearing your PJ's down the halls.

When you decide to go to one of the many shows offered on a cruise ship it's a good idea that you make sure that you are not tired. If you are tired and still want to go make sure you that you at least don't sit in the front row. There is nothing worse than the performer to see someone nodding off during their performance.

If you run into something that makes you unhappy, there is no reason why you should whine and complain about it to every Tom, Dick and Harry that might come by. The best thing to do is simply go to the management and ask them to take care of the problem. When you whine and complain it brings everyone you are around down.

Dress like you would dress anywhere. It is highly unlikely you would wear some sort of out of character piece of clothing to your local grocery store, so why would you even consider doing so on a cruise ship? Remember, wear clothing that fits your age, your personality and body type. Just because you are on a cruise ship does not mean that you suddenly became a top fashion model. Try to be very generous with those who work on these ships. Don't get the idea that they are well paid. Some of the waitresses on these ships only get about $50 per month and they are expected to be able to make up the rest with the tips that they receive from people like you and me.
